Pure West Films is a two year old company blessed with some early successes-- a Freddie Award, a Silver Telly Award, and an achievement award at Superfest XXV. Second Skin began production in late January, 2006. It is Pure West's first feature-length documentary. David Heilbroner, the executive producer, has been producing award-winning documentaries for fifteen years.
Juan Carlos Piñeiro Escoriaza, Director & Editor
Juan Carlos has directed films for seven years. In May of 2006 Juan received the Silver Telly Award for his industrial video, Astella Development. His most recent narrative production, After the Wake is beginning its tour through the festival circuit. His film A Galactic Whisper was selected for the Sight and Sound Film Festival. Juan has honed his cinematography skills shooting for reality TV shows such as the Apprentice and The Contender. He has also worked for New Line Cinemas as well as Radio and Television Hong Kong.
Peter Schieffelin Brauer, Producer
Peter is an award winning sound mixer and lighting designer. Recently, in a collaborative project with a group of disabled, Mexican healthcare workers, Peter created Return to Life After Spinal Injury. The film received an achievement award at SuperFest XXV and a FREDDIE Award in the Special People category. He has worked on various independent films, and assisted as well as sound mixed on reality TV shows such as The Cut, Seventeen, and The Apprentice.
Victor M. Piñeiro III, Producer & Writer
Victor has written a number of screenplays, and his most recent, The Quiet, was a Sundance Feature Film Lab finalist. Victor worked as a script reader for Killer Films, and has had five of his shorts made into movies. The short he most recently co-wrote, After the Wake, is entering the festival circuit.
David Heilbroner, Executive
Producer
David Heilbroner has been producing award-winning documentaries for 15 years. His film, Scopes: The Battle Over America's Soul (The History Channel, 2006), was part of Ten Days Which Unexpectedly Changed America, a series which won the Emmy® for Best Non Fiction Series in 2006. Jockey (HBO, 2004), which follows the lives of three riders, was nominated for 3 Emmys® and won the Emmy® Award for Best Non-Fiction Directing. Pucker Up: The Fine Art of Whistling, (Special Jury Prize and Audience Award, Florida Film Festival, 2004), was broadcast worldwide and had a limited US theatrical release.
